Is Sound Therapy Suitable for you?

Sound bath therapy is a beautifully gentle and relaxing experience, but because it works deeply with your body's nervous system and energetic field, it is not recommended for everyone.
Did you know, sound travels just over 4 times faster in water than in air? And metal conducts up to 17 times faster!
Because sound travels through the body, into every cell, conducted by organic material, there are a few considerations to be aware of.
Please consult your doctor before booking a session if any of the following apply to you:
Pregnancy:
As a general precaution it is not advisable to attend during the first trimester of pregnancy. However, after that comfort during your session needs to be greatly considered. Chairs or cushions can provide a more comfortable setting for you and your baby. Your baby can also benefit from the right session, reducing any maternal anxiety and lower cortisol levels creating a more peaceful, balanced womb environment. At around 20 weeks your baby can also hear external sounds too. When you are calm, your baby is too. All facilitators need to be aware of pregnant clients to ensure a gentle session.
Please note :Instruments should never be placed directly on the body at any stage of pregnancy.
Epilepsy: For certain individuals, sound frequencies, rhythms, or binaural beats can become overwhelming.
Pacemakers or DefibrillatorsSome sound waves and vibrations from the instruments can potentially interfere with the electronics of these medical devices.
Recent Concussions or Head Trauma:While healing the brain can be overwhelmed and overstimulated with deep sounds.
Metal Implants:If instruments are placed on or near the body, the vibrations can cause metal pins, plates, or joint replacements to resonate, which can be physically uncomfortable.
Severe Tinnitus or Sound Sensitivities:The complex overtones of gongs and large bowls can sometimes aggravate these conditions or cause ringing in the ears.
Severe Trauma or Mental Health Conditions: Because sound therapy activates deep rest and lowers emotional defenses, it can unexpectedly bring up heavy emotions that may be overwhelming for those with severe PTSD or dissociative conditions.
